Leadership effective learning

The study sheds light on the role supervisors and leaders play in leadership development and shows which is the best place to build critical leadership skills.

100 trade visitors at Learntec 2014 provide insight: How can effective leadership be learned? What is the key to this? HR consultancy Strametz & Associates reports on the implications for those responsible for leadership development programs and the work of HR developers.

“Everybody knows about it. Everybody’s talking about it. Who’s offering it?” This and similar are the reactions to David Meissner, Senior Professional Consultant at Strametz & Associates, when he invites visitors to Learntec to the study “Leadership Effective Learning”. Whether it is really that simple and whether it is really that clear how leadership can be learned should be determined by the survey of our HR consulting house.

What this study shows about effective leadership learning: The study sheds light on the role supervisors and leaders play in leadership development and shows which is the best place to build critical leadership skills. In the conclusion, Strametz offers a development commitment for leaders, which can be used to set in motion the most important levers for successful development as a leader.

“There were times when the patriarchal leadership style was considered effective. At other times, it was the laissez-faire leadership style. Today we know that the situationally oriented leadership style has prevailed as the most effective leadership style, as described by Hersey & Blanchard, for example,” says Managing Director Michael Kühner. “But we don’t yet know, in the context of today’s opportunities that come with technological developments, which form of learning is the most effective or sustainable.”

Whether and how situational leadership can be taught is the subject of lively debate among experts. For further clarification, employees of the Warburg-based HR consulting firm conducted a survey among 100 trade visitors to Learntec in Karlsruhe. Divided into four blocks, opinions, experiences, points of view and assessments on or with the topic of leadership were to be queried in order to be able to draw conclusions for the work in and with HR.
